"The Boat Times at Avery Island" or, "Avery Island" as they're more commonly called, is an indie alternative/rock band from Whitby, Ontario. The band is an evolution of local talent from the bands Kites and Thee Side Project.
The band consists of: Vocalist Lauren Heenan (guitar and synthesizer) who has been a fixture in the local music scene for over five years. Both a powerful lyricist and accomplished musician, Lauren brings unique lyrics and melodies to a powerful undercurrent of tones and rhythms; Guitarist Brandon Heenan (who also plays the synthesizer) brings a blend of artistry and creativity to the rhythms, guitar, and vocals to the band. Also is involved in another project as French Tickler, Brandon is proving himself as a budding rap artist; Bassist Jordan Pleshewsky (and synthesizer player) formerly of Thee Side Project, adds intricate beats and depth to Avery Island. Never afraid to experiment with baselines and different instruments, always adds new dimensions to the ever-evolving band.
